Exploring More of Riyadh

Our Journey Through Life

Buenvenidos todo mundo, greetings everyone. Allow me to begin by apologizing for being away for the last two weeks. As many of you may or may not know, I work in the healthcare industry and it has been extremely hectic. I am working on a new project, and it has taken a lot out of me. However, for those of you who also follow my YouTube channel, I have been able to post my vlogs, without much hindrance. It is, however, difficult to work full-time, blog, and vlog all at the same time. When I say work-full time, I mean working a minimum of 45 hours a week. On average, however, it is more like 45-60 hours a week. I really wish I was in a place to solely be able to just blog and vlog. Nevertheless, I am a long way away from being able to do so. Now, since this blog is about my journey through life, let’s get down to the best part of it, food.

One of my Favorite Spots to Enjoy Good Traditional Food

So, about two weeks ago, I visited a wonderful eatery, which I have previously blogged about. The location is none other than Operation Falafel. It is a quaint little restaurant with some typical Middle Eastern food. However, as I mentioned in one of my earlier blogs, it is traditional food with a twist. For more info on this wonderful eatery, just click on the link below. Moving right along, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has several great places to visit and enjoy. While Riyadh doesn’t have any 100% vegan restaurants, they do have several locations offering great vegan options. Remember, I am currently residing in the Middle East. Thus, the majority of people here are carnivores. Nevertheless, plant-based food, merchandise, and skin care products are starting to make their way throughout various regions in the country.

Visiting the Gold Suq in Diera, Old Riyadh

While I don’t usually vlog about my experiences, outside of food eateries, in Riyadh, I thought it would be nice to bring you along with me to purchase my first gold coin. One of the best places to buy gold here in Riyadh is at the Gold Suq in Diera, Old Riyadh. The word Suq means market place. For some reason, Diera brings me great enjoyment. I guess it is because the area has an old traditional feeling to it. I usually enjoy site seeing and visiting locations with historical value. While I didn’t go inside of the famous castle entitled Qasr Al-Masmak, which means Stone Castle (Fortress), I did take some wonderful shots of the outside and surrounding locations. Just look at the pic below. For those of you who live in the region, but have never had the opportunity to visit, you should definitely visit this historic location. Old Diera has a lot to see in such a short span of landmass.

Enough with that, it’s Time to Eat

While Old Riyadh is exciting to visit, it was time to leave the location and find a restaurant with some delightful vegan options. Now, although I have also blogged about this next location, I have never vlog about it and thought this would be a great opportunity to do so. This eatery is none other than Mikado House. It is a Turkish restaurant offering many options for one to eat. I usually get mainly three to four dishes at this place, which consist of hummus, muhammara, and eggplant in tomato sauce. All of these dishes are actually appetizers, but when combined they provide a more than satisfying meal. Of course, all of these are also provided with wonderfully soft and brilliantly tasting Turkish bread.
