My Malaysian Tour is Nearly at an End

Let’s Do Things Differently This Time

Bienvenidos todo mundo, greetings everyone. Thank you all for joining me as I start to wrap up my fantastic food tour of Malaysia. It has been an absolute pleasure to sit and visit with so many beautiful people in this country. Malaysia is a nice blend of ethnic and cultural societies, which live in perfect harmony with one another. I always enjoy the weather, food, culture, but most importantly, the people of Malaysia. It is a well-rounded society where religion is vital, but where it also respects the beliefs and practices of all. While I’ve been to Malaysia several times in the past, I decided to treat this trip utterly different from my previous experiences. I wanted to see Kuala Lumpur from a different microscope this time around. Well, let’s move right along. As I near the end of my trip, I decided to tour Kuala Lumpur as a new tourist. So, I bought myself a KL Hop-On Hop-Off bus ticket and started to venture the capital city.

KL’s Central Station

I started out the day at KL’s Central Station. Or as the Malaysians say and spell it, Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur. Upon arrival, I purchased my ticket for the Hop-On Hop-Off bus. The ticket technically cost 55 RM for a 24-hour pass, which is about 13.50 USD. I was fortunate to be traveling with family; so, they gave me the local price of RM25, which is approximately 6.15 USD. Now, as I walked into Central Station for the first time, ever, it reminded me of Grand Central Terminal in New York City. I don’t mean in the physical structure sense of things, I mean in terms of the character of the station and busy lives of the people in this metropolis. The first thing I noticed was a 24-hour McDonald’s and an Auntie Anne’s. While they don’t have vegan options here yet in McDonald’s, you can have your pretzel veganized by asking them to make a fresh pretzel without any butter. I usually have a jalapeño pretzel; it’s delicious.

Shopping Isn’t a Problem

Attached to the station is a pretty big mall called Nu Sentral Mall. You can find just about anything and everything you would in any North American or European malls. This was my first-time touring this particular mall. It wasn’t surprising to find a Baskin Robbins, Godiva, The Body Shop, Sephora, Victoria’s Secret, Cotton On, and Parkson’s, just to name a few famous brands. For those of you who really like to shop, then the Suria KLCC would be a nice place to visit, along with the Pavilion. These last two shopping facilities are a marvel onto itself. I still remember my first visit to them, I was in complete and utter awe. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Malaysia has so many shopping centers that I tend to visit a new one every time I return. Now, I am not saying they build new ones all the time. I’m merely saying that they have so many that I get to visit a new one upon each of my returns to this fantastic country.

Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour

No matter the price you pay to tour on this bus, it is definitely worth the price. One of the first stops from KL Central Station was the National Museum. While I didn’t get off to visit at every location, it is worth visiting the National Museum. The next stop was the National Palace, where the King of Malaysia and his family live. I did, however, get off on this stop to take a quite pic of me in front of the palace. I mean, why wouldn’t I take advantage of this opportunity, right? Next, we took some pics at the National Mosques, which is a grand work of art. After that, we saw the beauty of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. This was an absolute beauty to lay your eyes on, quite frankly. Another excellent stop to venture off at was the above-mentioned shopping center, Suria KLCC, which is directly connected to the Petronas Twin Towers. Time to Eat

While we did visit a few other places, like the KL Tower, during our bus tour, we were hangry (hungry and angry) and decided to get off at the KL Craft Complex and walked from there to the Pavilion to get something to eat. While at the Pavilion, we found this quaint little eatery called Simple Life Signature. I had me a Curry Pot Set, which included a wonderful vegetable curry dish. The set also included 10-grain rice, salad, clear vegetable soup, and a piece of watermelon to cool down after all the spiciness of the dish. I chased down the meal with a fresh juice made from apple, pineapple, cucumber, orange, and beetroot. It was quite refreshing. Overall, the meal was a complete success. Especially, after having spent the majority of the afternoon on the top deck of the bus. Well, thanks for visiting with me today. I hope you enjoyed my take on the Hop-On Hop-Off bus. Stay tuned for my closing Malaysian Tour video. Adios!
