Let Me Tell You A Secret!

Do You Want to Know?

Bienvenidos todo mundo, greetings everyone. Today, I’m sharing a secret with you. One that I’m not too sure many know about. I’m not even sure many Malaysians who are vegans know about it. As I travel through Malaysia, I’ve been able to devour plenty of fantastic vegan food. Many of them have been at locations that are Plantbased. Conversely, many of the places have not been Plantbased restaurants. Many of them are eateries that have veganized my food items upon my request. No matter what the case may be, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to some wonderful locations and eat some delightful food. Today’s blog is no exception. I visited a restaurant by the name of Beyond Veggie. It was created by the famous food outlet, Secret Recipe. For anyone that may know of Secret Recipe, it is a food chain that does not offer any food items for vegans to enjoy. You would be hard-pressed to attempt to veganized anything on their menu.

Smart Enough

Nevertheless, it seems that this food enterprise has realized that there are plenty of people to whom they are not catering to at the moment. Thus, the creation of Beyond Veggie is alive and kicking. However, don’t get so happy. There are not too many branches of this outlet open. Well, not yet, at least. Now, I don’t know if it is because it’s relatively a new concept and it is a work in progress or whether there isn’t a demand for the chain yet. Whatever the case may be, find yourself a branch and try it out. It is worth venturing into for vegan-friendly foods. Let’s move right along. The branch we visited was spacious, clean, and the service was terrific. As is the case with most outlets ran by the mother company, Secret Recipe. The outlet we visited was not crowded at all. Thus, it seemed like we had the entire place to ourselves. This was a refreshing turn of events as we were literally able to take our time to order our food. Just clink on the link below.

Let’s Get Down to The Food

We ordered a vegetable wrap for an appetizer, which was cut up into small bite size pieces. It was topped with pumpkin floss, which was quite tasty when eaten with the sesame based sauce. If you decide to order the vegetable wrap, make sure to avoid the other sauce provided with it. The second sauce option is mayonnaise based, and we all know that is a big no, no. Next, we had mushroom satay with a fantastic peanut sauce. Now, the mushroom satay was excellent. I love how they could bring a traditional Malaysian dish and make it vegan. Of course, what took the meal to the next level was the peanut sauce. We also had the stir-fry vegetable dish with cashews. This dish included baby corn, carrots, mushrooms, snap peas, and the cashews. Of course, we had to lay this dish on top of a bed of rice, of which we order both brown and white rice. A plate of food isn’t complete in Asia if you don’t have rice to go with it. Right?

We’re Not Done Yet

I know you all didn’t think that was the end of our meal. Along with the dishes mentioned above, we had tempeh sambal with petai. For those of you who may not have seen or read my recent vlogs or blogs when I was in Ipoh eating at Veggie Delight, petai is referred to as the stinky or smelly beans. It has rightfully earned its name. Those of you who have eaten petai in the past know exactly what I mean. For those of you who haven’t, you should give it a try at some point when you visit Malaysia. Nonetheless, this dish also went exceptionally well over a bed of rice. Although I wanted to have some dessert before calling it a day, this food outlet doesn’t have any vegan-friendly dessert options. So that is that, for the time being. Well, this is my brief take on this great tasting vegan-friendly food find. Thank you for visiting with me once again. Please stay tuned as I wrap up my tour of Malaysia. Don’t worry, I have a few more tit-bits to share with you. Adios!
