A Delightful Mix of Flavors

Mexican Inspired Cuisine

Bienvenido todo mundo, greetings everyone. Last week, I left you with a really great place to eat in the town of Ipoh, Malaysia. This week, I’ll take you to a must try eatery, which offers Mexican inspired cuisine. For those of you who follow my YouTube channel, you might have seen the vlog I did on Sala Vegan Plantbased Restaurant about a week ago. Well, this is a follow-up to that vlog. For those of you who haven’t seen the video, I’ll briefly describe my experience at Sala. I say briefly because of the old saying, a picture is worth a thousand words. If that is so, then a video must be worth a million words, at least. At any rate, you get the gist of it. For those who haven’t seen the video yet, you can find the link down below. While we are on the subject, I would genuinely appreciate any feedback I can receive on either my blogs or vlogs. It would make a difference and would help me with the direction I am heading to in the near and distant future with regards to my writing and video editing.

One of My Favorite Vegan Spots in Kuala Lumpur

Let’s move right along. The idea of having a Mexican inspired vegan restaurant is quite fantastic. As you may know, I was fortunate enough to have attended the World Vegan Day (WVD) Malaysia 2018 event. While there, I met the owner of Sala, Fauzi. He is a marvelous person with a great vision for the future of veganism in Malaysia. For a quick view of the WVD and of my brief interview with Fauzi, just view the link below. When I arrived at Sala, I was happy to see so many people eating at this establishment. As a matter of fact, I met a mother with her two children as they were enjoying their meals. According to the mother, her two children have been vegans since birth. Kudos to this family for passing this journey onto their children. On another note, the restaurant was quaint and cozy. The feeling was so relaxing that if I were permanently residing in Kuala Lumpur, I would most likely visit this establishment at least once to twice a week.

The Ambiance is Absolutely Comfy

As you walk into the restaurant, one sees seating to the right and the beginning of the food assembly counter to the left. Of course, this is all dependent upon which side of the restaurant one comes in from. Yes, there are two entrances to Sala. If you want to go straight to the food assembly area, which I would recommend, then you would be fantastically amazed by their display of savory food items. They offer burritos, tacos, salads, local delights, desserts, Kelava ice cream, and drinks. Now, for those of you who haven’t tried Kelava ice cream, you really need to give it a try. It is absolutely brilliant. Back to the main course. I had me an incredible tasting and enormous size burrito, which is simply their regular size burrito, by the way. I enjoyed a mushroom and rice-based burrito with tempeh and some delicious beans. To add on to this already great burrito, I had them include lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, cabbage, and of course, vegan sour cream. Look at this lovely aromatic delight below.

There is no Meal without Dessert

While the main course was everything I expected it to be, I still had other food items to indulge in at Sala. Although I love Kevala ice cream, I had my fill of it at the WVD and decided I would try some of the other tasty sweets Sala had to offer. There were brownies, brownies ala mode, lemon cake, and something called blissful balls, which looked like chocolate bites or donut holes. Well, I decided on trying a brownie and a piece of the lemon cake. First, I tried the lemon cake, and although I am not a real lemon enthusiast, something told me to give it a go. I am so glad I listened to my cut instinct.  The lemon cake was delicious. It had just enough lemon essence to curve the craving for a tangy dessert. It was soft, fluffy, and tasty. After that, I tried the brownie, which had a real dark chocolate taste. I genuinely enjoyed it very much. If you like dark chocolate, then you would love this brownie. Look at the desserts down below. They may not look like much, but they are filled with an explosion of pleasant flavor.
