Ending our Tour of Ipoh with a Bang!

The Start of a New Beginning

Greetings, Bienvenido, everyone. I am incredibly excited about this particular blog for two reasons. First, this blog brings my fantastic trip to Ipoh, Malaysia to an end. Second, it seems that my social media outlets are starting to gain some momentum of support, which I greatly appreciate. My website blog and Instagram account are the first outlets I took hold of in the very beginning of my journey. After that, Twitter and Facebook came soon after. While my YouTube channel is extremely new with just about two months in place, I know that is not much time at all. Nevertheless, during this short time, I have had 3,600 views. Now, to the pro-YouTuber, this is nothing at all. For someone like me who is not social media inclined, this is a big deal. I am sharing my vegan journey with you all, and it is finally starting to see supporters from all corners of the earth. For that, I am eternally grateful.

Some Ipoh History

When I last blogged, I wrote about the fantastic vacation getaway. If you miss it, just read last week’s blog or view the video above. I also included some of the fabulous vegan food options they had to offer. For a view of the sweet but concise food options, just check out the link below. Enough with the reiteration. Let’s move right along to the Ipoh town tour. We explore several tourist locations, which include Concubine Lane, Funtasty House of Trick Art, and Mural Lane. There are several stories about how and why Concubine Lane was established, which was in 1908. Nevertheless, there are two main stories that are typically spoken about. One story is that the town’s richest man housed his mistresses on this street. Another story is that many of the town’s wealthier men maintained second homes on this road in order care for their other wives. Of course, people knew of this unwritten tale, but no one wanted to actually acknowledge it in public. No matter the case, the gist of the idea remains the same.

Art at Its Best

Moving right along, we come to the Funtasy House of Trick Art. While this tourist attraction is not extremely large, it is a great place to go visit. If you stand in the right place and take photos of yourself, the artwork comes alive. The art plays tricks on the mind. It is all about perception. At any rate, it doesn’t take too long to go through the entire exhibition. It takes probably about an hour or so to complete it in its entirety. On top of it all, the entry fee is not too expensive. The cost for tourist is 19 MYR, which is a little over 4.50 USD. After enjoying the Funtasy House, we stroll down to Mural Lane, which isn’t too far. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the Funtasy House. I can say a lot about Mural Lane. While it is not the best art I have ever seen in the world, it does speak volumes on the art and poetry of Malaysia. The stories, which are depicted on the walls, tells fascinating stories about the cultures that are all able to live and thrive in harmony with one another.

Closing out our Tour with Great Food

While there is so much to tell about this great city, it is one that is better experienced through personal familiarity. For a better understanding, look at the link above. Now, as we close out our trip of Ipoh, I visit this great eatery called Veggie Delights. View the link below for a detailed review of my visit. You might remember in my blogs or videos that I visited a restaurant called Vegan Delights. Well, this is a second branch owned by the same person. Both locations are unequivocally delightful. You see how I did that, delightful. A play on the name, lol. However, they both have completely different menus, which is altogether great for variety. While I enjoy the food at these locations without question, what I love the most about them is the workforce. The owner strictly hires people that would otherwise find it difficult to secure work. In the Vegan Delight branch, he employs people that are mute. At Veggie Delights, he hires people with down syndrome. This is reason enough for us to support these establishments. Kudos for the efforts and service to the community. Two Thumbs Up!
